Hello bookclub friends,

I gained significant ground in The Rosie Project and have discovered Rosie has a bit of a potty mouth. 🙊 It's not so much an issue of frequency...but it's usually the F bomb. There are a few notes of humor some may find offensive as well. It hasn't been enough to stop me from reading, in fact I'm thoroughly entertained and love the story so far (HILARIOUS!), but I know it could be offensive to some. What would everyone rather do?

We could go with our 2nd choice, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, which I have also started (I couldn't resist!). So far it's not creepy. Eerily odd & mysterious, yes, but not the scary story it appears.

OR if we want to stick with the theme of interesting love story, we could try Me Before You by, Jojo Moyes. I haven't read it either but it was another on my list to suggest and it comes highly recommended.

OR we could just keep going with The Rosie Project. I'm actually listening (for the first time) on Audible and have to say the readers English accent has been spot on for the wit in this book. It definitely has the feel of a British comedy (the author is Austrailian). For me this has made what might otherwise sound offensive feel, a cultural norm. So far the off humor and bit of language in this book has served entirely to highlight the juxtaposition of completely opposite characters. That being said, I wanted to give fair warning and offer alternative options. I really don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable. 😊

Also, I should read before presenting...

Let me know what you all think.

Jen

I love Me Before You. I'm open to whatever. You know me, easy like Sunday morning.

I've read and enjoyed Me before You. I probably wouldn't read Miss Peregrine's even if we switch to that, but I also don't mind if I don't read the book...you know I'm mostly at book club just cuz I love you all :)
